Garage Doors in Huron Heights, OntarioRollers, hingesand the small parts.

Most of what goes wrong with a garage door in Huron Heights is small: a cracked roller, a hinge with an oval hole, a bearing that dried out. We carry those parts, replace them in sets so wear stays even, and lubricate the rest, which is often all a noisy or sticky door needed. Nearby, we also work in The Grove.

Garage door services

Repairs and new doors

Every garage door service we offer in Huron Heights is described the same way: what you might have noticed, what the technician checks first, how the work is done and what you have afterwards. Start with the symptom you are seeing and the right service will be easy to find.

Repairs

Repair & Maintenance

Whether the door was hit, has drifted out of alignment or has simply grown loud and tired, the work in this group aims at the same result: a door that runs smoothly, seals properly and does not need thinking about.

Springs

Springs & Hardware

The heaviest part of our trade is quiet when it is done right. A door with correctly sized springs, sound cables and bearings that turn freely rises with two fingers, and that is the result every hardware service here is aimed at.

2021 census · what it means at the door

  • 52%Older homes

About 52% of homes in London were built in 1980 or earlier, according to the 2021 Census.

Original openers in older neighbourhoods often predate photo-eye sensors and rolling-code remotes. Bringing one up to date means a quieter motor, sensors that stop the door for a child or pet, and remotes that cannot be copied from the driveway, all installed in a single visit.

  • 49%

Single-detached houses make up about 49% of homes in London (2021 Census).

In mixed neighbourhoods, noise matters differently from one address to the next. A detached house with a bedroom above the garage and a townhouse with a neighbour through the wall both benefit from a belt-drive opener and nylon rollers, and we explain the difference either way.

Garage Door Panel Replacement

From outside, the horizontal groove between two sections now steps sideways by a centimetre. One section has shifted on its hinges after a roller jumped the track, and on the way down the door catches at exactly that point.

Why do bottom sections get damaged so often in winter?

Meltwater runs under the bottom seal during a thaw and freezes the door to the slab overnight. When the opener starts in the morning, it pulls on a door that is anchored at the bottom, and something yields: the section bows, a hinge tears from its stile or a cable jumps. Salt and slush thrown off the car then corrode the lower edge. Keeping the seal free of ice and rinsing salt away protects the new section.

Can a bent lock bar be straightened?

It is better replaced. Lock bars are spring steel, and once one has been bent by an opener pulling against it, it takes a set and tends to bind in its guide or kink again under load. New bar stock is cut to the door's width so the bar reaches through the track with a margin and pulls fully back when released. Both bars are set to the same throw.

Will the new spring look the same as the old one?

Not necessarily, and that is fine. The paint colour on the winding cone or coil is a code that identifies wire size and wind direction, and different suppliers use their own schemes, so a matched replacement can carry a different colour than the spring it replaces. What matters is that the wire size, diameter, length and wind direction suit the door's weight and height, which is confirmed by the balance test.

Why does my belt drive clatter like a chain drive now?

Sprocket noise on a belt drive almost always means tension is wrong in one direction or the other. A slack belt skips teeth on the sprocket and slaps the rail; a belt pulled too tight grinds on the sprocket and strains the motor bearings. Both sound harsh. Setting the tension spring to its proper length, and checking that the sprocket and idler pulley are not worn, brings the quiet back.

Should an opener from before the mid-1990s be replaced rather than repaired?

Manufacturers recommend replacing units made before 1993, since most lacked external entrapment protection such as a photo-eye pair, a sensing edge or a constant-contact close control. Identify the model rather than guessing its age or remote type, since a fixed-code remote with small switches is not proof by itself. Replacing rather than repairing brings the sensor beam, a contact-sensitive force setting, remotes whose code changes on every press and a console lock button.
